Why SEO and SEM are Both Valuable to Small Businesses

Why SEO and SEM are Both Valuable to Small Businesses

They say that any business should have a website and that they would need SEO to make sure that it is visible. For without SEO, any website, no matter how good the contents in it may be, will not be seen by anyone when they’re using search engines. There are even businesses specialising in SEO services.

That being said, people say that SEM isn’t really necessary to promote your website and you can do away with just using SEO. But, I am here to tell you that both should not be used by themselves; they should be used in conjunction.

Why is SEO Important?

Search Engine Optimization is simply a collection of strategies made to increase the quantity as well as the quality of traffic that is going to your website. People use the different search engines available online to satisfy their query and when they click on a particular website, the owner of that site will gain some organic traffic or traffic that was created through the use of search engines.

SEO is a necessary first step after website creation. It is made to help promote more organic traffic to your website, and in a business sense, help create leads and make conversions.

There are a few things that you can do to start making SEO work for your site:

Creating a Google My Business Account is a must. Local SEO searches are on the rise these days and it would be foolish not to take advantage of this. The key is to be as truthful as possible, especially when it comes to the contact information, the name of the establishment, and the address.

Using well-researched keywords is also a must. You could use many different tools to give you high-quality keywords and it would be best if you can incorporate them in your title, subheadings, meta description, etc.

Social media accounts have become quite useful for businesses as it does help increase exposure by a lot.
There are plenty of benefits when using search engine optimization on your website. Aside from increasing organic traffic, it helps increase brand awareness and it gives you an edge amongst your competition who do not implement SEO strategies for their sites.

Why SEO and SEM are Both Valuable

Why is SEM Also Important?

Search engine marketing or SEM should actually be used in conjunction with SEO. Whereas SEO can be implemented without spending some money, you do have to put in some capital when you use SEM.
Essentially, SEM is just increasing your brand awareness and helping to drive traffic to your website through internet marketing means.

Small businesses might not have the initial capital to do this and that is actually quite understandable. However, once you’ve acquired enough money to do SEM, then you must do so in conjunction with SEO to help promote your website in the SERPs even more.

SEM primarily targets the demographic that is already interested in your products or services. This can actually help give you a competitive advantage, even when you’re up against heavy competition.

SEO and SEM should work hand-in-hand in helping you get the best results. More organic traffic would somehow lead to increased conversions. Who wouldn’t want that?
